Mateo Joseph remains on the fringes at Leeds United, having chosen not to go on the club’s pre-season tour as he tries to force through a move to Real Betis.
Daniel Farke has now spoken about his frustration with the situation multiple times, and [Estadio Deportivo](https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/futbol/betis/caso-mateo-joseph-punto-estallar-20250803-506520.html), the local sports newspaper for Seville, states the situation is _‘about to explode’._
That’s just what Betis will have wanted, with reports around the club making it clear there’s a plan to drag out the Mateo Joseph situation and put the pressure on Leeds United and the close of the window gets closer.
It’s a similar situation to what Betis are trying to do with Manchester United and Antony, with the belief the longer the difficult situations go on the likelier it is that Betis will get the deals they want.
Monday’s edition of [Diario de Sevilla](http://diariodesevilla.es) reports on _‘immense’_ anger at Leeds United towards the player, and frustration there’s been no development in the situation. Normally, when a player refuses to train or play it brings the situation to a head and the buying club push forward with a stronger effort to sign him.
That isn’t happening here.
Betis’ ideas regarding the money involved are _‘well below Leeds’ valuation’_, and reading between the lines it sounds like they’ll either sign Mateo Joseph for the fee they want or walk away. There doesn’t appear to be a desperation to get Mateo Joseph and only Mateo Joseph, so perhaps the player’s agents should have a think about that.
The 21-year-old is still in the very early stages of his career and taking the wrong turn could have serious consequences.
