Report: How Wolves privately feel about Goncalo Guedes £5m transfer fee ahead of Real Sociedad…

Goncalo Guedes is close to completing a transfer from Wolves to Spanish side Real Sociedad.

Guedes has travelled to Spain, not to be with the Wolves squad but to complete his move to Sociedad.

The Portuguese forward will undergo a medical before being unveiled as a Real Sociedad player, ending his three-year association with Wolves.

Vitor Pereira suggested that Guedes could leave this summer, and now, the player’s wish has come true, ending an incredibly underwhelming story in the West Midlands.

How Wolves feel about Goncalo Guedes’ transfer exit

Guedes is set to leave Wolves for just £5m, with an initial fee of only £3.5m being paid by Sociedad.

With two years remaining on his contract, Wolves fans are furious at Guedes’ exit price, particularly as the Old Gold paid £27.5m for the winger only three years ago.

Though supporters are bewildered by the sale price, the club have an opposing opinion on the player’s departure.

According to Sky Sports, Wolves are more than satisfied with the deal between themselves and Sociedad.

Sky Sports reported that ‘Wolves are understood to be happy with the deal’, which is a real surprise given the money lost on, quite frankly, a terrible transfer.

The £27.5m transfer in 2022 got Wolves three Premier League goals from 42 appearances in the top flight, with Guedes’ career in England nearing a forgettable end.

Guedes’ market value has plummeted since Wolves transfer

While the anger felt from Wolves fans regarding Guedes’ sale price is valid, the low fee isn’t something that can be seen as unexpected.

Date Market value

June 2022 €40m

June 2023 €23m

June 2024 €15m

August 2025 €11m

Goncalo Guedes’ market value history – Transfermarkt

As seen above, the player’s market value has plummeted since he signed for Wolves in 2022, with it dropping from £35m at the point of signing to just £9.5m now.

Guedes’ market value is still higher than his price tag reflects; however, it’s not all bad news, as shifting his £90k-a-week salary is a win in itself for Wolves.

Fosun’s plan to lower Wolves’ wage bill is taking shape, offloading three top earners this summer in Nelson Semedo, Pablo Sarabia and Guedes.
