Quick progress over Douglas Luiz’s prospective switch to Nottingham Forest is expected in Italy but there remains confusion over the nature of the potential deal with Juventus.
Forest are keen on the Brazilian midfielder, who is out of favour at Juventus following an underwhelming first season in Italy.
Tuttosport report that developments over a move to the City Ground are due on Monday, but there are contrasting claims over what a deal may look like.
It was reported by Corriere dello Sport over the weekend that the deal hinged on the clause in a loan contract. Juventus wanted an obligation to buy, but Forest were keen only an option to buy.
On Monday, Quotidiano Sportivo said that Juventus were looking for €40m (£34.8m) for Luiz, having splashed out €50m to sign him from Aston Villa last summer.
That price-tag is backed up by Tuttosport. But Quotidiano Sportivo go on to add that a deal has not been reached because Forest have so far only put forward an offer of €30m (£26.1m).
It seems the agreement between Forest and Juventus is what will hold up a deal, with Corriere dello Sport suggesting Luiz has agreed terms on a five-year contract should the prospective loan deal become a permanent one.
Given Luiz was a huge hit at Aston Villa, developing into an influential star in the heart of their midfield, there is interest beyond Forest, with Everton also said to be keen. But all signs point to Forest being the frontrunners.
A continued stay at Juventus seems unlikely, with Luiz left out of the squad for their pre-season friendly against Reggiana at the weekend.
The 27-year-old made just three Serie A starts last season, with injuries also affecting his maiden campaign in Italy.
At Villa, he was a much more consistent presence in the side, missing just 15 of 190 Premier League games over five seasons in the West Midlands.
He scored 20 goals in that time too, including nine in his final season at Villa Park.
