Newcastle United are ready to reignite their interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi and beat Liverpool to his signature, according to reports. The Magpies have less than a month to rescue what has been a nightmare summer transfer window thus far, and Eddie Howe wants Guehi to upgrade his centre-back options.
According to The Times, Liverpool are also interested in the 25-year-old but have no plans to match Palace's £50million asking price when his contract expires next summer. It's claimed that Newcastle also do not intend to bid that high but hope they can strike a deal worth around £40m near the deadline.
