Chelsea’s transfer window has been one of the busiest in Europe — and the squad overhaul shows no signs of slowing down.

Fresh off a strong 2024/25 campaign under Enzo Maresca, the Blues have been aggressive in the market. High-profile signings like Liam Delap, João Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Jorrel Hato have already arrived, with reports also linking Xavi Simons to Stamford Bridge.

But with so many incoming deals, outgoings are inevitable.

Marc Guiu has joined Sunderland on loan, João Félix departed for Al-Nassr, and the likes of Noni Madueke and Kepa Arrizabalaga have been sold to Arsenal. Others, including Djordje Petrovic and Mathis Amougou, have also been moved on.

Now, another name could soon be heading for the exit door — and this time, permanently.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Borussia Dortmund have reactivated discussions with Chelsea over the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka.

The 20-year-old midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund after being told he was not part of Maresca’s long-term plans. In that time, Chukwuemeka made 17 appearances and caught the eye with his powerful ball-carrying and creativity.

Dortmund manager Niko Kovač was full of praise following one standout performance in a 6–0 win over Union Berlin.

“The way he takes the ball and carries it, the way he immediately turns in the direction of play — that is really unique,” said Kovač. “He has very good acceleration and technique. The boy will give us joy, if he stays healthy.”

Those words seem to have carried weight. Romano reports that talks between Dortmund and Chelsea are ongoing, with Chukwuemeka himself pushing to make the move permanent.

Chelsea’s stance is clear: they are only interested in a full sale and will not consider another loan — not to Dortmund or any other club.
