Swansea City are among the clubs interested in a deal to sign Liverpool youngster Luca Stephenson, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Swansea City are alongside the likes of Cardiff City, Reading FC and Rotherham United, who are all interested in a loan deal for Luca Stephenson.
Stephenson is set to sign a new deal for the Reds and following this, will likely be sent out on loan by the Premier League Champions.

The aforementioned EFL clubs will have to compete against Scottish sides Aberdeen and Dundee United for the young Liverpool midfielder. He already spent last season at Dundee United, where he was voted the club’s Young Player of the Season as they finished 4th in the Scottish Premiership.
Stephenson also has previous experience playing in the EFL, spending the 2023/24 season on loan at Barrow in League Two.
It has been a successful pre-season for Stephenson, where he has caught the eye of manager Arne Slot, featuring in their friendlies against Preston North End and AC Milan, travelling with the first-team squad on their pre-season tour of Asia.
He will now look to use a loan move to impress Slot further in the hopes of breaking into their squad in the future, something the likes of Swansea City, Cardiff City, Reading or Rotherham United could help with.

Stephenson’s impressive versatility
In the past, Stephenson typically operated as a central midfielder, this is where he most commonly played for Dundee United last season, however he is also able to slot into other positions on the pitch.
During Liverpool’s pre-season, the rumoured Swansea City, Cardiff City, Reading and Rotherham United has also showed that he can fill in at other positions, featuring for the Reds at centre-back against Preston and then playing at right-back in their match against AC Milan.

This versatility is something that will be a big attraction for EFL clubs, as he will help with clubs’ squad depth, being able to provide cover across the pitch.

Could Stephenson fit in at Swansea City?
With clubs in both the Championship and League One interested in the Englishman, questions will be asked as to whether he would perform in the second tier. After his impressive pre-season for the Reds, they will want the midfielder to play at the highest possible level, perhaps leaving Swansea City as his ideal suitors.
There has been a lack of change for the Swans in their midfield this summer, with the likes of Goncalo Franco and Jay Fulton likely to line-up in their opening game of the season against Middlesbrough this Saturday.
However, with the retirement of Joe Allen and failure to re-sign Wrexham new boy Lewis O’Brien, the Swans will be looking to improve their squad depth in the position.
