Nottingham Forest would likely face either Fredrikstad or Midtyjlland in the UEFA Conference League play-off round if Crystal Palace win their appeal against expulsion from the Europa League.
The Reds are expected to replace Palace in the Europa League after the Eagles were judged to have breached UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules.
But the Selhurst Park club have launched an appeal against the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
While the outcome of the appeal is awaited, the draw for the Conference League play-off round took place on Monday, with Palace drawn against either Fredrikstad of Norway or Denmark’s Midtyjlland.
In a statement after the draw, Palace said: “Our participation in the 25/26 Conference League is pending the outcome of an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, regarding the club's demotion from the 25/26 Europa League.”
“The first leg of the Conference League play-off round would be due to take place at Selhurst Park on Thursday, 21st August,” they added.
“The second leg would take place away the following week on Thursday, 28th August.
“The outcome of Fredrikstad and Midtyjlland's Europa League qualifying tie will be confirmed on Thursday, 14th August, with the defeated side moving to the Conference League.”
If Palace are successful in their appeal, it is likely Forest would directly replace them in the Conference League play-off round tie, having qualified for the Conference League via a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League last season.
