Malo Gusto has opened up on reflecting on the season just gone, Club World Cup victory and what he’s chasing next.
Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto posted a video to his Instagram followers on Sunday, showing the preparation he is doing as the new season approaches.
Gusto was brilliant at the Club World Cup, playing a key role in stifling PSG’s lethal wide attackers in a dominant final win. The 22-year-old has grown into his role at Stamford Bridge, with Gusto even earning a Brazil call-up for his performances last season.

But he’s not stopping there, and wants to be a driving force in helping Chelsea exceed expectations again this season.
Malo Gusto sets his sights on even bigger trophies next season
World champions isn’t enough for Gusto, who wants to keep pushing for more next season.
Chelsea aren’t favourites for the Premier League title, but they will be up at that end of the table, competing with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City. It’s great to hear such ambition from a young player, showing the strong mentality fostered in the dressing room.

Another possible interpretation of ‘bigger’ is the Champions League, which Chelsea are returning to after a two-year hiatus.
They have already shown they can beat the best European sides, and having won the competition already this decade, they should feel confident about being able to challenge for Europe’s elite trophy.
Chelsea have great full-back cover with Jorrel Hato’s arrival
Malo Gusto got a chance to shine at right-back last season with Reece James’ extended absence. On the opposite side, Marc Cucurella was run into the ground at times.
Now, with the signing of Hato, Chelsea have two full backlines that they can field next season, which will allow them to stay competitive on all fronts and avoid fatigue.

Gusto may feel hard done by in relation to minutes this season, as he probably gets into every starting XI in the league, bar Arsenal and maybe Spurs.
Unfortunately, if James is back fit and firing, as Chelsea’s leader, he will keep Gusto out of the side, and the inverted left-back role that the Brazilian has filled at times will also likely be occupied.
But Gusto is determined and won’t shy away from the challenge of competing for Enzo Maresca’s favour. He wants to win.
