Everton submit £40m 'improved' bid for 'outstanding' attacker

Everton have reportedly submitted an 'improved' bid to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling.

The Toffees have had an underwhelming transfer window so far, but the new owners are trying to help David Moyes with funds to bring in some quality players before the window closes.

The Saints have already rejected an offer in the region of £27m from Everton for Dibling, who has a contract at St. Mary’s until 2027.

The 19-year-old has also attracted interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle United, and he is keen to return to the Premier League, having never played in the Championship before.

According to a report from The Athletic, the new bid from Everton is worth in the region of £40m, but it is still likely to be rejected, with Southampton demanding a higher transfer fee.

The youngster, who spent eight years in Southampton’s academy before moving to Chelsea's youth set-up, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign under Russell Martin, as he made 38 appearances in all competitions for the Saints in 2024-25, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

While he could not save Southampton from getting relegated, his impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, with several clubs now vying for his signature.

"He is a beautiful footballer, a really outstanding talent. He's powerful. He possesses stuff that not every player possesses," Martin said before the 5-3 Carabao Cup win over Cardiff in which Dibling provided two assists.

Everton need to pay more to sign Dibling

Southampton are determined to keep hold of him, as he is an exceptional talent, and Everton need to offer more to land him.

The Toffees have relied on signing young talents mainly, with Adam Aznou recently joining from Bayern Munich.

Thierno Barry and Mark Travers also joined the club, while Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move was made permanent.

However, the Toffees need more quality players ahead of the new season, and Dibling would be a cracking signing.

It will be interesting to see if the Toffees continue to pursue a deal for Dibling if the second offer is rejected, or they move for other options, such as Lyon winger Malick Fofana.
