Rob Pelinka has seen a lot of ups and downs during his years as GM of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Some fans are elated with the work he has done, while others think he could do so much more.
How much longer will Pelinka be the general manager of the team?
According to Dave McMenamin, via Legion Hoops, Pelinka is expected to remain the Lakers GM as long as Jeanie Buss is the team’s Governor.
So, it sounds like Pelinka has some job security, which is incredibly rare in the NBA.

Pelinka has had his good and bad moments as GM.
He was part of the deals that acquired LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but he was also deeply involved in LA’s quest to sign Russell Westbrook, as well as the moves that saw them lose players like Alex Caruso, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Kyle Kuzma after their 2020 championship.
Of course, the biggest moments of Pelinka’s tenure came last season when the team got Luka Doncic.
A lot of people felt that Doncic just fell into their laps, but it wouldn’t have been possible without Pelinka picking up the phone and making some assurances.
Now, the big question is this: what will Pelinka do next?
James and Doncic need more support, and Pelinka is clearly working on it.
After all, he added Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton only a few weeks ago.
But there are rumors that he has his sights set on an even bigger star next offseason, and he is compiling all the pieces he needs to make that happen.
Could Pelinka be cooking up another big-time trade for next summer?
