Diogo Jota has been remembered in a special edition of Liverpool’s matchday programme for their double-header of Anfield friendlies against Athletic Club.
Liverpool will face LaLiga side Athletic Club twice on Monday night, a month and a day from the tragic passing of Jota and his brother Andre Silva.
After an outpouring of tributes from supporters, friends, former teammates and staff alike, the club announced their plans to honour to life of their No. 20.
That includes a commemorative edition of Liverpool’s matchday programme for the friendlies against Athletic Club – the first game at Anfield since Diogo and Andre’s death.
Supporters can purchase the special programme here, with copies also available at the stadium and club stores.
Jota’s life will be remembered with a number of tributes within the programme itself, along with reflections on the club’s efforts to honour the striker.
Liverpool have retired the No. 20 worn since his move from Wolves in 2020 while players will wear a special ‘Diogo J. 20’ emblem on their shirts and stadium jackets throughout the 2025/26 campaign.
A permanent memorial sculpture is also in the works and will be in place at Anfield in the future, while floral wreaths will be laid before the Athletic Club friendlies and the Premier League opener against Bournemouth.
The release of Liverpool’s new Adidas home and away kits came with Jota’s ‘Diogo J. 20’ shirts available as a default personalisation, with all profits of official sales going to the LFC Foundation.
A grassroots football programme will be created in Jota’s name as the club endeavour to ensure he will never be forgotten.
Liverpool are not the only club to have honoured the Portuguese, with Wolves inducting Jota into their Hall of Fame along with plans for a permanent tribute at Molineux.
The brothers’ boyhood club Gondomar have unveiled their new home, away and third kits for the 2025/26 season with their faces part of the design.
Porto and Atletico Madrid, for whom Jota played prior to his switch to England, agreed to hold their pre-season friendly on Sunday night in tribute to the late striker.
