Former Leicester City favourite Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is on the brink of a £28m transfer to Everton.
The midfielder is set to leave Chelsea just a year after his £30m switch to Stamford Bridge.
Fulham had also been interested in the 26-year-old, but he looks set to link up with David Moyes and the Toffees as they get set to move into their new stadium.
City’s star man in their promotion campaign two seasons ago, Dewsbury-Hall left his boyhood club to reunite with Enzo Maresca.
While the season ended with Dewsbury-Hall earning two winners’ medals, the Europa Conference and the Club World Cup, he did not feature as often as he would have liked.
In the Premier League he made just 11 appearances, and only two starts, finding himself a second-string option.
In the Conference League, he featured more often, playing all 15 matches, scoring four goals and providing three assists, including one in the final, a 4-1 victory over Real Betis.
Dewsbury-Hall will be Everton’s fifth signing of the transfer window, but Moyes wants nine or 10, feeling it’s the biggest squad rebuild one of his sides has ever had to undergo.
“I've never had one of these times,” he said last week. “In the past, I have had to sign a lot of players, but I've never had to do so many in one window.”
Dewsbury-Hall is one of three players produced by City’s academy to have been sold for at least £30m in recent years, alongside Ben Chilwell (£50m) and Harvey Barnes (£38m).
The success of the academy has continued in recent years, and nine of the 24 players in Marti Cifuentes’ squad against Fiorentina had come up through the club’s own ranks.
