Leeds United told price for top striker target – West Ham also in the transfer mix

Leeds United are in the market for a striker and Daniel Farke has made it clear that the club are still short in the attacking areas ahead of the start of the Premier League season. The German wants new forwards in the squad before the end of the window.

The Whites are preaching patience on the transfers front, but with just two weeks left before Leeds host Everton at Elland Road in their Premier League opener, the fans are growing anxious. Farke has admitted that they are not Premier League-ready because of the lack of numbers and quality in the final third.

Leeds have turned their focus towards bringing in more forwards, and while they are considering their striker options, the club have made a move to try and sign Leicester City’s versatile attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss.

Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz is their top target, but the Cottagers’ asking price, coupled with increased competition for his signature, has forced Leeds to look at other striker options, both home and abroad.

Leeds United learn asking price for Artem Dovbyk, who is also on West Ham’s radar

Artem Dovbyk has scored 42 goals for Giron and Roma respectively in the last two seasons, but the Serie A giants are open to selling him.

The arrival of Evan Ferguson on loan with an option to buy means Roma are ready to consider offers for the Ukrainian striker in the ongoing transfer window.

There have been conflicting reports about the asking price, with suggestions that the Giallorossi are ready to sell him for as little as £22m this summer.

However, according to Tutto Mercato, Roma’s financial demands are set to be higher than what was originally anticipated.

While they are prepared to sell him, they still want decent money, and are keen to earn somewhere around £25m up front, while the add-ons should take the deal to the £30m mark.

Roma do not want to sell him for less than £25m, and are anticipating offers from the Premier League this summer.

Leeds have been monitoring the striker’s situation, while West Ham are also interested in exploring a deal for Dovbyk in the ongoing transfer window.

Leeds will have to shell out the big bucks for a striker

The market for strikers has exploded this summer, and big money has already been shelled out on forwards such as Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres.

Alexander Isak is likely to go for a Premier League record fee if he moves to Liverpool from Newcastle United, and Benjamin Sesko, who scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga last season, is likely to cost around £70m this summer if he leaves RB Leipzig.

Dovbyk scored 12 goals in Serie A last season for a poor Roma team, and while he turned 28 in the summer, he still has value in the market.

Leeds should be expected to spend somewhere between £25m and £30m for a striker who has scored more than 40 goals in the last two seasons.
