Everton put up a valiant display against Man United in Atlanta to gain a well-deserved draw in pre-season.
The Toffees had more success than in any of their other opening games so far as David Moyes’ side finally showed positive signs.
This comes after some woeful performances, which has expressed the need for signings even more.
But it was Everton’s physicality that stood out to Ruben Amorim, as the Scotsman will have seen the hard work put into action.
It was a solid display, but one player was missing on the teamsheet, and the Everton boss has now explained why.

Nathan Patterson missed Man United vs Everton due to a potential hernia issue
There was a change in right-back as Jake O’Brien returned to the position where he had probably hoped he wouldn’t see again.
But this was due to Nathan Patterson’s absence, as Moyes confirmed in a post-match interview that the 23-year-old has an injury concern with a potential hernia issue.
This time it isn’t a case of Moyes not trusting Patterson like previously, but the defender hasn’t exactly covered himself in glory this pre-season after a mistake against Blackburn Rovers and many goals conceded.

A hernia injury could see the defender out for a long-term period, which means, as it stands, Everton don’t have an out-and-out right-back fit and ready for the Premier League opener.
Of course, O’Brien can play in this role, but Moyes will want a proper full-back to come and fill the void.
The Friedkins must look into the options, as this position has gone from a need to a must, and it appears one target for this position could already be in the limelight.
Everton are weighing up a move for Juanlu Sanchez, who has impressed and could be the answer to the Toffees manager’s prayers.
He’s impressed at Sevilla, but the 20-year-old could have that added pressure at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next season if he signs.
As for Patterson, his future has got even more uncertain, as if his performances on the pitch weren’t already standing out, he’s not going to improve them much off it.
