Man United will reportedly make an offer for Benjamin Sesko as they bid to beat Newcastle United to the RB Leipzig striker in the summer transfer window.
The two clubs have been engaged in a battle to sign the Slovenia international to strengthen their respective frontlines ahead of next season.
The Magpies made their move last week, tabling a £69.8 million bid, but it was rejected by Leipzig, who are hoping for a bidding war and a future sell-on clause.
Man United to make Sesko bid as Newcastle demand transfer response
Man United are yet to make an official bid for Sesko, but Sky Sports News claim that they are “expected to make a formal offer” this weekend.
The Red Devils are “in talks” with Leipzig “over what they would be prepared to pay”. Newcastle are also said to be discussing “the structure of a deal” following their failed bid.
While Sesko is “open” to joining either club, he is apparently “leaning” towards a move to Old Trafford if a deal can be agreed. He is also said to have told teammates he will be leaving.
Meanwhile, Newcastle want Sesko to tell them if he wants to join the club “within the next 48 hours”, according to talkSPORT.
Although the Tyneside outfit are “confident” of completing a deal with Leipzig, they do not want “the saga to drag on”.

Leipzig’s managing director for sport, Marcel Schafer, confirmed that they have received approaches for Sesko.
“We won’t go into detail on that but when I say that several clubs have shown strong interest and have made approaches, it’s obvious what has happened,” he said.
Sesko has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances since joining the east German outfit from Salzburg in 2023.
