Fabrizio Romano has now shared where Manchester United stand on trying to sign a Barcelona teammate of England star Marcus Rashford in the transfer window.
Marcus Rashford signed for Barcelona in July and the 27-year-old Manchester United star left the Red Devils after his short-lived summer return to Old Trafford.
The England international’s loan spell at Aston Villa expired in June and Rashford was sent back to United after spending the second half of the season at Villa Park.
Rashford had been deemed surplus to requirements at United under Ruben Amorim and the Red Devils star had teased about a dream opportunity to play at Barcelona.
Barcelona agreed to take Rashford out on a 12-month loan deal this summer, with United including an option for his move to be made permanent for £30.3m (€35m).

The 22-year-old Barcelona midfielder faces increasing competition at the Camp Nou, despite the admiration from Hansi Flick and being part of the manager’s plans.
Fermin Lopez came through the La Masia youth academy at Barcelona and the long-term future of Marcus Rashford’s teammate remains uncertain at the La Liga club.
Fabrizio Romano took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and said that “no negotiations” have been held between United and Barcelona so far.
He added that there has been noise ‘linking’ Lopez to United and the Barcelona midfielder “at this stage” is “fully focused” on the defending La Liga champions.
“No negotiations between Man United and Barça for Fermin Lopez despite recent links,” Romano tweeted.
“There’s nothing at all at this stage with Fermin fully focused on Barca.”

Barcelona’s release clause for Fermin Lopez and the price tag for the Spain midfielder amid Man Utd’s transfer interest
Fermin Lopez is under contract with Barcelona until 2029 and the Spain international has made 88 appearances for the Spanish side since his emergence in the first team.
Barcelona have a mammoth €500m release clause inserted into the United and Manchester City-linked midfielder’s deal after he inked a new contract last summer.
However, it has been reported that the reigning Spanish champions could be open to selling Lopez amid freeing up wages and balancing their books at the Camp Nou.
It is believed that Barcelona would want a transfer fee of around £50m (€60m) from United before they consider letting Lopez leave the Camp Nou this summer.
