Chelsea have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market this summer — and with each new arrival, another player edges closer to the exit door.

Following a strong 2024/25 season under Enzo Maresca, the West London club has wasted no time reshaping its squad. Big-name prospects like Liam Delap, João Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Jorrel Hato have all signed on, with further reinforcements likely on the way.

One of the most talked-about targets remains Xavi Simons, currently at RB Leipzig, who could yet join the Chelsea project before the window shuts.

The Blues are said to be advanced talks for the Dutch international, who has made it clear that he is keen to move to West London – even deleting Leipzig from his Instagram bio and commenting on photos of Hato, Chelsea’s most-recent signing, in a Chelsea shirt.

But as Chelsea push to bring Simons in, it seems Leipzig have their eyes on a player of their own.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, as negotiations continue between Chelsea and RB Leipzig for Xavi Simons, the German side have expressed interest in Tyrique George during those talks.

While Romano made clear that George is not part of the Simons deal and is being discussed separately, Leipzig are actively pursuing the 19-year-old forward, who is reportedly open to leaving Stamford Bridge this summer due to limited opportunities in an increasingly crowded attack.

George’s potential exit may come as a blow to Chelsea fans. The teenager enjoyed an impressive breakout season in 2024/25, scoring seven goals and notching 11 assists across 38 appearances in all competitions.

Known for his direct style, creativity, and confidence on the ball, George has already earned praise from teammates, with defender Levi Colwill describing him as “amazing.”

While nothing is agreed yet, RB Leipzig’s interest underlines George’s growing reputation outside England. The Bundesliga club has a strong track record of developing young talent, and George could see the move as a stepping stone toward regular senior minutes at a high level.

For Chelsea, parting with a homegrown talent is never easy — but if Xavi Simons does arrive, fans might at least see it as a trade-off they can live with.
