Luka Doncic just signed a big three-year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, meaning the team is officially his and will be for at least the next few years.

However, many noticed that LeBron James was absent at the news conference announcing Doncic’s deal.
But that isn’t a reason to worry, according to Marc Stein.
Writing on his Substack, Stein confirmed that James and Doncic have communicated about the extension, and James sounds completely on board with it.
“LeBron and son Bronny James were noticeably not in attendance at the news conference, but I’m told that LeBron FaceTimed Dončić on Saturday morning to congratulate him on the new deal,” Stein wrote.
This deal was massive for the Lakers because it gave them a good chance of reaching the Finals soon, but it also laid the groundwork for a very bright future.
For the first time in years, Doncic and not James is the face of the franchise, and his extension means he will be for years.
There are rumors about James and speculation about his future.
Even at 40 years old, he would still be sought after by other teams if he decided he was ready to leave the Lakers.
It sounds like he will remain in Los Angeles, but that could change.
