Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sunderland have reportedly identified a Borussia Dortmund defender as a summer transfer target.
The two Premier League clubs have endured contrasting periods in the market as they bid to avoid a battle at the wrong end of the table.
While Wolves have generally been left frustrated in their search for quality additions, Sunderland have defied their newly-promoted status to attract some high-profile names to the Stadium of Light.
Nevertheless, both teams will remain active over the coming weeks, and it appears as if there is ambition to sign a new right-sided defender.

Borussia Dortmund defender on Wolves, Sunderland radar
According to Sky Sports News, Borussia Dortmund player Julian Ryerson has emerged as a subject of interest.
Ryerson has spent the last two-and-a-half season at the Westfalenstadion, contributing seven goals and six assists from 101 appearances.
Among those outings was a start in the 2023-24 Champions League final against Real Madrid, where he completed the 90 minutes in a 2-0 defeat at Wembley Stadium.
The Norway international started all five games from the quarter-finals onward, emphasising his reputation on the European scene.
However, the report suggests that the 27-year-old is eager to experience Premier League at some point of his career, even if he is in no rush to leave Dortmund.
As such, Wolves and Sunderland are seemingly monitoring the situation in the event that Dortmund are prepared to cash in on a player who cost them in the region of £4m.

Why Wolves have a clear advantage
On Saturday, Wolves announced that they had signed David Moller Wolfe from AZ Alkmaar, the left-sided player expected to become first-choice wing-back on that flank.
As well as Moller Wolfe being Norwegian, Wolves have Jorgen Strand Larsen in their ranks, and both players could play an influential role if Ryerson is left with a choice to make.
Wolves could plausibly look to act as soon as possible, aware that Ryerson will have no shortage of admirers if it becomes clear that he is available for a certain fee.
