Sunderland and Wolves both keen on Borussia Dortmund defender

Sunderland and Wolves are both keen on Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson, according to Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger.

The 27-year-old right back signed for the Bundesliga club in 2023 from Union Berlin, and last season he made 47 appearances for them. According to the claims from Berger, both Premier League clubs are keen on Ryerson, but neither have moved forward with a concrete effort to sign him.

The German journalist also stated that Ryerson wants to stay at Borussia Dortmund at the moment, even if his dream is to play in the Premier League. Given that angle, it sounds like this information is agent driven, and that’s where the claims of Sunderland and Wolves interest have come from.

He renewed his contract in October of last year so it surely can’t be an effort to get a better deal and is perhaps therefore an attempt to get Ryerson’s Premier League aims out there and attract clubs expected to be further up the table than Sunderland and Wolves.
