Leeds United boss Daniel Farke aired his frustrations after the 1-1 draw against Villarreal this weekend. The Whites had to play with multiple players out due to knocks.
Farke said that the club’s recruitment team need to push harder for signings in the next couple of weeks. Leeds face Everton in the next 10 days, and some positions lack signings. Daniel Farke is especially concerned with the depth in attacking areas:

“We had to use Brenden Aaronson a bit on the role which hasn’t played much in the last season but overall in his career, for his stage and his time in pre-season, being back nine or 10 days. He put in a good shift, was involved in the equaliser with more or less the assist and good work against the ball. Not every ball was tidy but overall he was important for our offensive game today. We also know that we definitely need a few additions there.”
Last week, there were reports that the club could add up to four new players in the coming weeks.

Leeds have been linked with Southampton midfielder Mateus Fernandes. The 21-year old is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League. Fernandes has been absent for a few days, and missed the club’s game against Brighton – raising transfer speculation.
Saints boss Will Still explained why the midfielder was not involved this weekend.
“There’s noise around him, but he’s a good player. He’s shown his quality over the past year, and there is interest – we can’t lie about that.
“But Matty hasn’t been very well and wasn’t in the building the last three days and wasn’t here today. It’s as simple as that.”
When questioned about the possibility of Fernandes staying at Saints beyond August, Still responded: “I don’t think so. The price has been set, and if that price comes in, there’ll be negotiations, but for the moment, nothing has been met, and Matty is still here. I hope he gets better and is back in on Tuesday.”
Fernandes could solve many problems for Daniel Farke
The Portuguese star played many roles last season in the Premier League. He is an all-round midfielder, but it is clear that he excels in advanced areas. Two goals and four assists is a decent output for a young midfielder in their first season in England.

Fernandes has the unique ability to bring the ball up the middle of the pitch, and drag his team up the field. This skillset would especially be useful in Daniel Farke’s system for this upcoming season.
