Serie A giants want around €40 million for Tottenham target this summer; Crystal Palace also…

Crystal Palace have seen their opening bid rejected for Tottenham Hotspur-linked Inter Milan star Yann Bisseck

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been linked with move away from N17 since the end of last season, with Atletico Madrid vying for his signature.

The 2022 World Cup winner expressed his desire to play in La Liga in June, but Daniel Levy putting a mammoth price tag on the defender’s head blocked a move to Atletico Madrid. For now, Los Rojiblancos have cooled their interest in Romero and he is expected to be a key member in new boss Thomas Frank’s squad for the forthcoming campaign.

Given how concrete Romero’s links to Atletico were, the Hotspur Way chiefs had identified Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck as a potential replacement.

Yann Bisseck had a fine 2024/25 campaign, racking up 46 appearances across all competitions. He produced a memorable display in Inter Milan’s 1-0 win over Arsenal in the Champions League’s league phase.

Unfortunately, the German defender endured a sad end to the season as he suffered a hamstring injury just minutes after entering the field during the Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, disrupting his pre-season campaign. This resulted in Bisseck missing the entirety of Inter’s Club World Cup campaign.

Spurs are not the only club to have held an interest in Bisseck. London rivals Crystal Palace, too, are keen on him as they view the Inter star as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi.

Now, according to a report from Tutto Mercato, Crystal Palace have had a €32 million bid rejected by Inter for the 24-year-old as they value him around €40 million. It is also understood that the German is not interested in a move to the Eagles and wants to continue plying his trade with the Nerazzurri.

Will Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy meet Inter’s valuation for Yann Bisseck?

What should be Tottenham’s play?

The Lilywhites struggled at the back last season, with first-choice centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven suffering long-term injuries. Radu Dragusin sustained an ACL rupture in January and it is not yet known when he will attain full fitness, while summer signing Kota Takai has been ruled out for weeks after going down with an ankle injury in a training session.

Thus, there is a need to address Tottenham’s defensive depth heading into the new season, and spending around €40 million for Bisseck would represent a smart investment. The Aarhus-born talent, who can also operate as a right-back and wing-back, has the required mix of technical skills and physicality to thrive in the Premier League.

That said, it will take a strong project pitch from Daniel Levy and Co. to persuade Bisseck to leave Giuseppe Meazza for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
