Benjamin Sesko is attracting interest from both Newcastle United and Manchester United this summer.

Newcastle submitted a bid of €75million (£65million) plus €5million (£4.3million) in add-ons.

Leipzig ultimately turned down the offer as they are holding out for at least an initial £70million fee, along with a future sell-on clause.

The Magpies have outlined their project to the Slovenian striker, who is reportedly open to both clubs’ proposals.

Sesko missed RB Leipzig’s pre-season friendly defeat to Atalanta on Saturday amid expectations of his departure.

The 22-year-old is said to have informed his teammates of his intention to leave the club.

Marcel Schafer, RB Leipzig’s managing director for sport, confirmed on Saturday that several clubs have made inquiries about Sesko.

“We won’t go into detail on that but when I say that several clubs have shown strong interest and have made approaches, it’s obvious what has happened,” he said.

Newcastle are also interested in Yoane Wissa, who was absent from Brentford’s squad for their friendly against QPR on Saturday as he seeks a move.

According to The Athletic, Leipzig have received an improved offer from Newcastle to sign Benjamin Sesko.

Newcastle have raised their new offer to at least €80m.

Last season, he scored 21 goals in all competitions, bringing his total to 39 goals in 87 matches across his two years at Leipzig.

Newcastle have maintained a long-standing interest in Sesko.

The Premier League club are considering a move for him should Alexander Isak leave.

The Sweden international is keen to depart St James’ Park this summer and had been training with his former club, Real Sociedad, while Eddie Howe’s squad were on a pre-season tour of Asia.
