Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has made it clear that his team are not Premier League-ready due to the lack of investment in the forward line thus far. However, the club are now on the verge of moving on an attacker from the squad in the coming days.
The Whites have turned their attention towards strengthening their attacking options after deepening their defensive and midfield resources early in the transfer window. A move for Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannous is brewing after talks were held between the club and his representatives over triggering his £24.5m release clause.

Leeds are also trying to source a starting number 9, and apart from their interest in Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, the club are also considering moves for Everton’s Beto, Roma’s Artem Dovbyk and Rennes’ Arnaud Kalimuendo.
However, Farke has also been clear about not wanting a few attackers in his squad next season, and Leeds are on the verge of moving on one of those players in the coming days as part of their transfer strategy.

Leeds United are set to move on Joe Gelhardt this week
Joe Gelhardt spent the latter half of last season on loan at Hull City and made a huge impression at the MKM Stadium.
The forward has not been part of Leeds’ pre-season plans, but he did score four goals in a closed-door friendly while playing for the Under-21s.
It emerged last week that the forward could be on his way to the Scottish Premiership with Rangers, but Gelhardt is set to stay in England next season.
According to Leeds Live, negotiations are ongoing for the Leeds striker to join Hull City in the ongoing summer transfer window.
He has always been keen to return to Hull, and if everything goes according to plan, the move is likely to be finalised for him to feature against Coventry City this weekend.
His wages doubled once Leeds got promoted as per terms, but a compromise has been worked out for Gelhardt to leave Elland Road in the coming days.
The forward is set to wear the Hull shirt again next season after impressing in the latter half of the 2024/25 campaign.
Joe Gelhardt deserves the move he wants
Gelhardt has had a tough time at Leeds after initially impressing in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa.
He never managed to convince Farke, and even when there were opportunities to play the forward, the Leeds manager decided against giving him a chance.
The striker needed the loan move in the winter window, and at Hull, he played in various forward positions and made an impression.
He has always been keen to return to the MKM Stadium this summer, and it seems the forward is getting the move he always wanted.
