Christopher Nkunku could be heading for the exit doors at Stamford Bridge this summer, with serious interest reported from Italian giants, Inter Milan.
The French striker has failed to impress during his two-year stint in London thus far, being unable to cement his place in the starting eleven. The transfer in the summer of 2023 cost the Blues €60 million.
Despite having 4 years left on his contract, Chelsea are open to the possibility of parting ways with the striker. A temporary loan move away from England’s capital cannot be ruled out. The player has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich this summer.
Nkunku’s future
French publication, L’Equipe claims that Inter Milan have made initial contact with the player and his representatives in order to structure the deal. However, Nkunku does not seem to be Inter Milan’s primary transfer target.

Nkunku’s move to the Italian capital could be largely dependent on how Inter Milan fares in their pursuit of Serie A forward Ademola Lookman. At the moment, the Nerrazurri are facing a hard time striking a deal for Lookman with Atalanta, with a reported €45 million offer turned down in recent times.
Nkunku is versatile in attack, and Inter Milan could deploy the 27-year-old forward with great success. The striker can play across multiple positions in the attacking third and could complement the duo of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram perfectly at the San Siro stadium.
Is this another potential blunder?
Christopher Nkunku’s time at Chelsea has been challenging, with regular game time not on offer and several fitness-related concerns as well. The player’s career could be given a breath of fresh air while staying at a top European club – something on Nkunku’s priority list ahead of the World Cup next summer in the USA.
The Blues let Joao Felix leave for Saudi Arabia without ever really giving him a run in the team and may live to regret it if the young forward goes on to great things. They risk the same thing with Nkunku if they sell him now.
Chelsea, at the same time, will be compelled to part ways with the striker if they are able to find success in their pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simmons or indeed their rumoured move for United’s Alejandro Garnacho. The 22-year-old Xavi is highly rated among the football circles with several noteworthy performances in recent years.
