David Ornstein shares which club RB Leipzig favour selling Benjamin Sesko to right now - Man United or Newcastle

Manchester United and Newcastle are both keen to sign Benjamin Sesko to solve their issues up front.

The Red Devils have Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee up top, and neither player has set the stage on fire. New signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha can play there, but they are not out-and-out strikers.

Newcastle, on the other hand, have one of the best forwards in the world in Alexander Isak, but the Sweden international wants to leave the club.

That is why Sesko is on top of Newcastle’s wish list, and there is now some good news for Toon fans.

RB Leipzig currently favour selling Benjamin Sesko to Newcastle over Manchester United

Newcastle United have tabled two bids to sign Benjamin Sesko this summer.

Eddie Howe’s side’s opening proposal was worth €80 million (£69.6m), including add-ons, but that was rejected by the German side.

Newcastle followed that up with another offer worth €90 million (£78.3m) with add-ons, and it remains to be seen if that will be enough to convince Leipzig.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that right after Newcastle’s second bid, Manchester United told Leipzig that they will bid for Sesko too, if the player gives them his word that he will move to Old Trafford.

However, David Ornstein has revealed that as things stand, Die Roten Bullen currently favour selling their star striker to the Magpies following their second bid.

The journalist tweeted on Monday night: “Newcastle United make improved bid to RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko.

“New offer worth at least €80 million after positive talks between clubs and with 22-year-old striker. Nothing agreed, but RB Leipzig currently favour Newcastle United. No Manchester United proposal yet.”

Benjamin Sesko would break all-time Newcastle United record

Newcastle United are among the biggest clubs in England.

Yes, the Magpies haven’t won a league title in nearly 100 years, but they still have a rich history and an absolutely incredible fan base.

Now, if the Toon’s latest offer for Sesko gets accepted, he will become Newcastle’s most expensive transfer of all time, beating the man he could replace – Isak.

Sesko is a player with immense potential.

An argument can be made that Newcastle’s offer is over his actual value, but if the Slovenia international turns out to be a success, nobody will talk about his price tag.

If Isak is definitely leaving, we think Sesko is the man Newcastle should go after, and they have done exactly that.
