Nottingham Forest offer to treble player’s wages – He’s keen, move stalled, may now be dead

Nottingham Forest have already made an attempt to sign RCD Mallorca’s Pablo Maffeo this summer.

On July 22nd, AS reported the right-back was determined to join Nottingham Forest, who were working on finding an agreement with Mallorca.

Two days later, Marca reported the Reds had broken off negotiations and this was also confirmed by Mallorca manager, Jagoba Arrasate. Nottingham Forest’s offer was around €6.5m including bonuses while the La Liga club requested €8m.

Fast forward to August and Tuesday’s edition of Última Hora discusses the 28-year-old’s failed move to Nottingham Forest. The player’s desire is to leave this summer, although he isn’t ruling out staying at the club.

Maffeo is said to have had a meeting with Mallorca sporting director Pablo Ortells during their pre-season trip to Austria, where he again urged him to consider offers for him. He’s keen on leaving in this window and has to consider options in the market.

The Spaniard’s contract expires in 2027, and Nuno Espírito Santo’s side tabled an offer that would have see him treble his wages.

Nottingham Forest are now focusing on Hellas Verona’s Jackson Tchatchoua. On Monday, TuttoMercatoWeb reported the right-back, who can also in other positions on the right side, is ‘very close’ to joining the Premier League club.
