Crystal Palace and 1. FC Köln could battle for Middlesbrough’s Rav van den Berg this summer.
That’s at least what Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger is reporting, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover Köln and Crystal Palace interest in the 21-year-old.
Köln secured promotion to the top flight and are now pushing to sign the Middlesbrough player.
According to Berger, the centre-back is a main target for the German club, and they have sent a €7m offer to Middlesbrough. He makes no mention of whether or not this proposal has been accepted by Boro.
The Netherlands U21 international is said to be open to a move to the Bundesliga, but the journalist states Köln will face ‘big competition’ from Crystal Palace and Feyenoord.
Feyenoord have already ended their interest in the Dutchman and are set to sign Sheffield United’s Anel Ahmedhodžić, which Berger hasn’t taken into account. This now leaves Crystal Palace as Köln’s only competitor to sign the Middlesbrough player.
With The Bundesliga club already sending an offer to Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace have to act quickly to at least match their bid.
