Leeds United midfield ace tipped for shock League One switch – Club urged to act

Leeds United are knee deep in their preparations for the Premier League, with Daniel Farke urging the club to bring in more attacking players before the end of the window. However, the Whites have a few players to move on before the market closes on September 1st.

Farke has made it clear that Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph are not part of his plans. The former is not considered good enough for the Premier League anymore, and the latter’s decision to hand in a transfer request has more or less made him persona non grata for the Leeds manager.

However, Leeds have several more players in the building who have no futures at the club and need to find a new club before the transfer window closes in less than four weeks.

The Whites are hoping to finalise the departure of Joe Gelhardt this week, with Hull City in advanced talks to sign him, but a few more players need new clubs as the Whites look to move on the unwanted personnel as soon as possible.

Cardiff City urged to sign Leeds United midfielder Darko Gyabi

Darko Gyabi spent last season on loan at Plymouth Argyle and made an impression despite the side getting relegated from the Championship.

He is not part of Leeds’ plans and the club are keen to sell him before the end of the transfer window this summer, with several clubs in the Championship and League One believed to be interested in the player.

Cardiff City fan pundit Matt Hall has admitted that he would rather see his team buy the Leeds midfielder over Liverpool’s Luca Stephenson.

He stressed that Stephenson is not a proven commodity and is not a specialist midfielder, while Gyabi has proved himself in the Championship and would be a top signing for a League One club such as Cardiff, who will be chasing promotion this season.

“[My] initial feelings are that he’s probably not the sort of player that I’d be looking for, personally”, Hall told the FLW.

“[He’s a] blend of a right back and a defensive midfielder, maybe a bit of central midfield, but those are all positions that generally we don’t need.

“In central midfield, we have got a number of bodies and I think if we were to bring someone in, I’d rather it be someone a bit more proven, a bit more higher level.

“We have had some links to Darko Gyabi of Leeds on a permanent deal. That would be something I’d be more interested in than this guy here.”

Gyabi would be a good signing for Cardiff

Despite Plymouth getting relegated from the Championship last season, Gyabi played a full season in the Championship and made a decent impression.

With a year left on his contract at Leeds, the midfielder is almost certain to leave on a permanent deal this summer, and a League One club such as Cardiff would be a good destination.

The Welsh side are aiming to get promoted back to the Championship, and the Leeds midfielder would be a top addition to their squad.

He is not good enough for Leeds in the Premier League, but he has proven that he can more than cut it in the Championship and League One.
