Everton are eyeing a surprise summer move for Almeria midfielder Dion Lopy, Spanish publication Fichajes has claimed.
The Toffees have identified the five-cap Senegalese international as another reinforcement to David Moyes’ options in the middle of the park and are believed to be preparing an offer worth around €25m (£22m).
A move for Lopy would bolster Everton’s midfield even further, following their agreement to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea in a £29m deal on Monday.
The Senegalese ace is a completely different style of player, as he is more suited to playing in defensive midfield, with only rare appearances in more advanced roles.

Dion Lopy
According to Fichajes, Everton are now ‘close’ to signing Lopy, with talks now advancing over his anticipated move to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The 23-year-old midfielder was one of Almeria’s standout players last season and his performances have attracted the attention of several European clubs.
However, Everton have reportedly been the ‘most decisive’ in the race to secure his signature and are now said to be close to finalising his arrival, with a £22m bid being prepared.
Almeria are aware that keeping Lopy will be a difficult task this summer and would reportedly welcome a sale, which could be one of the club’s most expensive departures ever.
Everton have so far splashed out around £50m on four signings this summer, with Tierno Barry, Carlos Alcaraz, Adam Aznou and Mark Travers joining.
With Dewsbury-Hall set to become the fifth arrival, the Toffees are expecting further signings before the transfer deadline, with Moyes claiming more new players could arrive next week.
