Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United reject offer to sign striker who is 'ready' to join

Man Utd want to sign a striker in the final month of the summer transfer window, with their focus on one player.

Manchester United are still fully focused on a possible deal to sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko in the final month of the summer transfer window. Ruben Amorim has requested a striker before deadline day, with the 22-year-old viewed as their top target for the role.

It won't be easy to sign him, though, with Newcastle also keen on a deal for the Slovenian striker. The Magpies saw an opening offer for Sesko rejected over the weekend, but are understood to have submitted an improved bid worth £78.5 million for his signature.

United will likely have to match that offer if they are to sign Sesko this month, with the player yet to decide which club he would like to sign for next season. It was reported earlier this week that the RB Leipzig star is torn between joining United and Newcastle, and he would consider five different factors to make his decision.

United 'reject' chance to sign Vlahovic

With their full focus still on a deal for Benjamin Sesko, Manchester United have reportedly turned down the chance to sign other striker targets in the final month of the transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano claims United have been offered the chance to sign Dusan Vlahovic, with the Juventus star 'on the table' and 'ready' to move to Old Trafford this month. However, they currently have no interest in a move for the 25-year-old and do not want to entertain other signings until they have had a firm answer on their Sesko pursuit.

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, transfer guru Romano issued an update on their striker search and revealed the decision to pass on Vlahovic for now. "Man United in the last three days - Saturday, Sunday, Monday morning - have been offered the possibility to sign Dusan Vlahovic again," he said.

"Vlahovic is out of the Juventus project. Vlahovic is a player who can leave Juventus for a good proposal and he has been offered to Man United again. It's something like, 'Okay, if you can't get a deal done for Benjamin Sesko, Vlahovic is an opportunity, he is ready, he is on the table.'

"But Man United's reply during the whole three days was: 'We are focused on Sesko, we want to go for Sesko, we are still in for Sesko.' So, United are waiting for that story as a priority."
