There will be many factors that Newcastle United transfer target Benjamin Sesko will take into account when making a decision over his future over the next few days.

Newcastle are locked in a transfer battle with Manchester United for the Slovenia international. The Magpies have seen an offer for the player rejected by RB Leipzig, but are expected to meet the Bundesliga club’s demands if they get the go ahead from the player himself.

Man United are taking a similar stance - although the club are yet to make a formal bid, they are reported to be ready to make their move if Sesko chooses Old Trafford as his destination. Reports in Germany say that Sesko is open to joining both clubs.

He now faces a decision over which destination he prefers, with it being reported that Newcastle have set a 48-hour deadline for the decision to be made with the club not wanting the saga to drag out.

Speaking on his YouTube channel in his latest update, journalist Fabrizio Romano outlined the factors that will be key in Sesko’s decision.

“This is a very important decision for Benjamin Sesko, it’s not a normal decision,” he said. “it’s about his career, his life, European football, money, several things to consider. Project of course, coaches with different mentalities, so different things to consider, different things to discuss, so Sesko is taking his time.

“These kind of decisions, when you think about Erling Haaland when he left Borussia Dortmund to go to Manchester City, this kind of decision takes more time. You can think for March, April, May and then in June make the transfer.

“In this case Sesko didn’t make any decisions yet because the market is still quiet. Now is the time to decide but it’s already almost the final part of the summer transfer window.”

Newcastle have one big advantage over Man United, with the club able to offer Champions League football in the upcoming season. A fifth place finish saw them qualify for the elite European competition.

Man United, meanwhile finished in 15th position and missed the chance of qualifying for the Champions League after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final back in May.
