AS Roma have now gone beyond phone calls and interest when it comes to Claudio Echeverri: they’ve packed a bag and flown to London.
[According to a report from O Jogo in Portugal](https://www.ojogo.pt/4044012719/dirigente-da-roma-em-londres-para-fechar-promessa-do-manchester-city/), a Roma official has travelled to the English capital to try and seal a deal for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder, currently owned by Manchester City. The plan is to agree a loan move, despite City having other ideas.
Girona, part of the same ownership group as City, have been working on a deal for Echeverri and were believed to be in pole position. The Spanish side recently completed the signing of Vitor Reis, and Echeverri was expected to follow the same path.
But Roma are trying to derail that plan, [as we are following closely](https://sportwitness.co.uk/manchester-city-plan-for-talent-becoming-clear-player-has-other-plans/), and O Jogo makes it clear they want to secure the player before Girona can get it done. Since arriving at Manchester City in January, Echeverri has featured just three times and scored once, which makes a new loan move feel inevitable.
Now it’s a matter of who blinks first: the City Group’s internal plan or the Roman delegation knocking at the door.
