The 26-year-old Angolan center struggled to find his rhythm throughout the year and revealed that he was very frustrated with his transition into European basketball at the end of the season, with a viral moment in the ACB semifinals against Unicaja Malaga being the peak of that frustration.

“At the end of the season, I was feeling frustrated with a lot of situations. But well, that’s basketball, right? Ups and downs,” Fernando said in an interview with EFE.

“It was a moment of extreme frustration that had been building for some time and needed to come out somehow; it had nothing to do with missing a shot or losing a rebound, it was a lot of personal things I needed to release to be able to keep working and find a better version of myself.

It was something that happened that night, but by the next day, I had already recovered,” he reflected.

After signing with Real Madrid in January, Fernando appeared in 12 EuroLeague games, averaging 5 points and 3 rebounds per game, playing around 13 minutes per game.

He will continue with Real Madrid next season, as his contract with the Spanish champions runs until the end of the 2025–26 season.
