Leeds United have two transfer options if Isaac Schmidt leaves this summer

Leeds United could look to bring in a new right-back before the Premier League's big kick-off next week.

Rumour is rife Isaac Schmidt may join Werder Bremen for the 2025/26 campaign. Should Schmidt depart Elland Road, it will leave the Whites short in the position as the new campaign closes in.

The 25-year-old has found regular first team football hard to come by since moving to West Yorkshire, making 12 Championship appearances last season, all as a substitute. Schmidt played nine times for FC St. Gallen in 2024/25 and showed in flashes his versatility and capability in Switzerland.

It is believed Whites boss Daniel Farke will only allow the Lausanne-born the chance to leave if a replacement can be found, with links having already been made.

Here, LeedsLive looks at who the Whites could bring in to replace Schmidt should his loan move to Germany be given the green light.

A name that continues to be linked with a move to Elland Road is James Justin, according to Leeds United News.

Justin, 27, made 39 appearances, scoring four times, for the Foxes last season, as he nailed down a consistent place in Leicester's starting XI.

The Luton-born defender has, however, entered the final 12 months of his contract at the King Power Stadium and that could tempt Leeds into a move before the summer deadline closes.

Lyon defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles has decent Premier League pedigree and has performed well in France since his move from Arsenal.

Maitland-Niles is reportedly keen on a move back to England this summer, and Leeds could offer him the perfect chance to return.

The Whites are just one club rumoured to have 'offered' the Hale End academy graduate a helping hand, and his situation could be one to keep an eye on.
