Sancho and Solskjaer: A Manchester United Reunion at Besiktas?

Turkish club Besiktas have made an inquiry about the availability of Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, sources have told Turkish-Football.

Besiktas are now managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjær, the very coach who brought Sancho to Manchester United in 2021.

Solskjær has reportedly expressed a desire to reunite with the player he initially signed for the Red Devils.

Sancho’s future at Old Trafford appears to be over, with him spending the last season on loan at Chelsea and before that, a stint back at his former club Borussia Dortmund.

He is reportedly one of a group of players training away from the first-team squad as Manchester United looks to offload them.

Besiktas’ interest, however, faces a potential hurdle in the form of competition and finances.

While Besiktas have made contact with Manchester United, they would likely struggle to meet Sancho’s current high wages unless the player agrees to a significant pay cut or United subsidize a portion of his salary.

Juventus have also been linked with the player, and a permanent transfer fee of around £21.5 million has been discussed. Other clubs, including Nottingham Forest and Borussia Dortmund, have also been mentioned as potential destinations.

The Turkish Super Lig club’s interest seems to be driven by Solskjær’s desire to rebuild the squad and bring in a marquee signing. However, Besiktas’ record transfer fee is significantly lower than what would be required to rival a bid from a club like Juventus, making a loan deal with an option to buy a more likely scenario.
