TBR Football can now exclusively reveal that Southampton have left both Everton and Tyler Dibling annoyed after ‘moving the goalposts’ in negotiations.
The England U21 international is being pursued by David Moyes after an impressive 2024/25 campaign with the Saints.
TBR Football understand Dibling wants to join Everton after Southampton were relegated to the Championship.
The 19-year-old was the subject of a £35m bid from the Toffees on Monday, after an offer worth £27m had initially been rebuffed.
Now – however – Graeme Bailey has been informed that Everton are looking for alternatives to Tyler Dibling after a surprise development.
Exclusive: Southampton anger Everton by increasing asking price to £50m
Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – was told on Monday that Southampton were looking for a guaranteed fee of £40m before agreeing to sell the teenager.
Everton then believed a deal was close after making a new bid worth just over £40m in total, but the Toffees have now been left shocked after the Saints requested another £10m.
We understand Dibling himself is also frustrated by the stance adopted by Southampton, as he feels Everton have done all they can to secure his signature.
Bailey says: “The player is not happy. He wanted to join Everton and they have tried hard with three bids.
“Both Dibling and Everton feel Southampton have moved the goalposts when it comes to the deal. As it stands Everton are moving on and Dibling is far from pleased.
“Everton could come back but it would need Southampton to back down on their demands.”
TBR Football understand Everton are also trying to sign Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla, and are close to landing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea.
What Will Still has said about Tyler Dibling situation
Southampton boss Will Still has moved to play down speculation involving Dibling – a talent compared to Gareth Bale.
The 32-year-old said: “He’s been struggling. He didn’t come to Spain with us because he’s got a few niggles. He was back in training this week, and we had to push him for 60 minutes.
“We used the first game for that, but no, he’s fine, he’s just being typical Tyler and getting on with things.
“I have no idea (if he will depart). I think the club have set a price. We’ve got good players and there is interest for good players, which is normal.”
