Jamie Donley is set to join Stoke City after an impressive season in League One.

Stoke City look set to fend off interest from several Championship clubs to secure the loan services of talented youngster Jamie Donley.

The Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder spent the last campaign on loan at Leyton Orient, impressing the Spurs hierarchy after notching eight goals and 10 assists and narrowly missing out on promotion after a 1-0 play-off final defeat to London rivals Charlton.

He will join fellow Spurs youngster Ashley Phillips on loan at Stoke after reports in London claimed a season-long deal had been agreed for a player who has already impressed Man City boss Pep Guardiola.

Football.London Spurs writer Alasdair Gold flagged the deal on Tuesday as Stoke go about bolstering their midfield assets.

Donley earned the Player of the Match award after scoring as Orient lost 2-1 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup last season, prompting rival boss Guardiola to declare: "When you concede this goal, you just congratulate Donley. He's an incredible left-footed player, and he made a fantastic goal."

The 20-year-old will join fellow new recruits Sorba Thomas, Maksym Talovierov, Divin Mubama, Aaron Cresswell and Phillips at Stoke, who open their Championship season with a home game against Derby County on Saturday (3pm).

Donley joined Spurs' academy aged eight and has made three Premier League appearances to date, earning his debut in a 3-3 draw with Manchester City in 2023.

He has also turned out three times for the Northern Ireland senior team, and was linked with a move to West Brom earlier in the summer to reunite with former Spurs coach Ryan Mason, who is now in charge at the Hawthorns

However, new Spurs boss Thomas Frank opted to keep the club's young stars around for pre-season to make an assessment before any decisions were made on their futures.

It seems that time has now come with Gold reporting: "The Northern Ireland international will now be playing his football for Stoke in the 2025/26 season, joining fellow Tottenham player Ashley Phillips at the bet365 Stadium for the campaign.

"The youngster's switch to Stoke will give him the opportunity to build up his experience at a higher level in his hope of becoming a Tottenham regular in the not too distant future."
