What Remo Freuler told Dan Ndoye before he signed for Nottingham Forest might stun fans

Nottingham Forest managed to get a deal to sign Dan Ndoye over the line last week as the player checked in from Bologna.

The Serie A outfit reluctantly sold Ndoye to Forest, with a deal worth around £37 million for the winger to move to England.

Ndoye scored nine goals and claimed six assists in Serie A last season, scoring in the Coppa Italia final as Bologna stunned Milan to lift the trophy.

Anthony Elanga was sold to Newcastle this summer and as a result, Ndoye will be the plug-and-play replacement for the outgoing winger.

Forest have landed themselves a ready-made replacement for Elanga and now the fan base can look forward to seeing him in action this season.

What Remo Freuler told Dan Ndoye about signing for Forest

Ndoye will have one familiar face in the Forest dressing room, with Nicolas Dominguez playing alongside the winger on a couple of occasions in Italy.

Last season, Ndoye was playing in a team that often featured Remo Freuler and it would appear that he sought advice from his Switzerland teammate before moving to Nottingham.

The Athletic claims that Freuler told Ndoye to grasp the opportunity with both hands, with the experienced midfielder only having positive things to say about Forest.

Freuler lasted a single season at the City Ground following a £7.5 million move from Atalanta, where he had captained the team in the Champions League.

Ndoye can become fan favourite at Forest

After Elanga starred last season, Ndoye will have some big shoes to fill, but at 24-years-old, the player should be capable of making an immediate impact.

The Switzerland international looks the right fit for Forest and he should slot into the right side of the attack in a pretty seamless fashion.

It’s intriguing that Freuler has given Ndoye a glowing reference for Forest, given that some of the fan base were less than complimentary over the central midfielder.

It would appear that Freuler enjoyed his time at Forest and hopefully, Ndoye can enjoy a better relationship with the fan base and help the Reds progress in the Premier League.
