Report – The shirt number Franco Mastantuono is likely to wear at Real Madrid

La Liga president Javier Tebas has launched a fiery response to fresh accusations from Real Madrid TV, who claimed the league was manipulating the competition by refusing to postpone the club’s season opener against Osasuna on August 19.

The criticism came after the RFEF, in line with La Liga’s stance, denied Madrid’s request for a delay, triggering backlash from the club and its media outlet.

In his defence, Tebas took to social network X, directing his response to Miguel Garcia Caba, a legal expert who has worked with Real Madrid, La Liga, and the RFEF.

Garcia Caba had published an article accusing the league of selective rule enforcement. Tebas, never one to back down, addressed the article head-on.

Tebas takes aim

Tebas did not mince words:

“Miguel, your ‘article’—if it can be called that—is as legally-informed as I am a curling fan. There’s only one sentence that deserves analysis: ‘He takes refuge in the rules.

“Always the rules. But we all know that when it’s convenient, they are interpreted, adapted, bent. Not this time.'”

Continuing his critique, Tebas said:

“Are you telling us that when you were the supposed ‘great jurist’ of the RFEF, the regulations were bent to suit you? Is that what you defended from your position?

Or are you insinuating that the Competition Judge should prevaricate, interpreting the regulations to the liking of the ‘Supreme Being’? BY BENDING IT.”

Claims of bias and legal warfare

Siempre…

Tebas also pointed out García Caba’s return to Real Madrid’s orbit, stating, “And let’s not forget the context: after your time at various institutions, you are now back in the orbit of Real Madrid as director or professor of the club’s Master’s in Sports Law.”

He then countered the accusations of bias against Madrid by flipping the narrative. “You speak of animosity toward Real Madrid. But you have the wrong adversary.

First, it is Real Madrid who has filed criminal complaints against me; second, it is the RM directors who have tried to ban me four times before the CSD, by the way, trying to BEND the rules; and third, it is the Real Madrid directors who have filed more than 100 complaints against LaLiga.”

Tebas questions Real Madrid’s scheduling claims

Ending his post with a jab at Real Madrid’s internal planning, Tebas questioned their handling of pre-season schedules:

“By the way, it’s also surprising how Real Madrid, despite the fact that the collective bargaining agreement sets the vacation period at 21 calendar days (and it ended on July 30), gave its players 4 more days, starting preseason 4 days later. Why?

“Did the Supreme Being already know that the rules were going to be BENDED? And no, Miguel, this isn’t about interpreting your ‘integrity’.

“If that were the case, you’d be worried that Chelsea, a Club World Cup finalist, finished later than Real Madrid… but starts two days earlier in the Premier League and also that in France, PSG and other finalist clubs also start without anyone considering BENDING the rules.”
