Transfer correspondent reveals truth of Tottenham interest in £42.5 million Salford sensation

Tottenham Hotspur not guaranteed to move for Manchester City talent James McAtee this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of creative midfielders in the ongoing summer transfer window, and there has been a lot of noise as regards a potential move to bring Manchester City academy graduate James McAtee to Hotspur Way.

The ‘Salford Silva’ has been linked with a move away from his current employers as he looks to get some regular minutes under his belt, and that is where links with a move away from his current employers come into the picture.

The 21-year-old has been floated as a possible option along with Xavi Simons, who has been edgingtowards a possible move to Chelsea. But transfer correspondent Paul O’Keefe via X has shut down McAtee links with a move to Hotspur Way.

When he was asked directly about McAtee, O’Keefe said, “I got a no on that.”

Man City are said to be looking for a massive £42.5 million for the 21-year-old who spent last season on loan at Sheffield United.

O’Keefe backs the Elliott links…

Liverpool star Harvey Elliott is eyeing the number 10 role at Tottenham Hotspur.

Alongside McAtee, Tottenham have also been subject to links with a move for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott (though there has not been any news yet about the North Londoners’ formal approach to his signatures).

O’Keefe continued, “They do like him, but [there’s] no guarantee they make a move.”

There have been reports recently indicating that Thomas Frank is prepared to give the Fulham academy graduate that number 10 role which he wanted should he make the switch to north London, but Liverpool are said to value the England U21 international at around £50m.

And to build on that report, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also claimed that three or four clubs are looking to move for Elliott this summer along with the North Londoners, which will end up making a possible transfer for him quite on the expensive side of things.

TTLB Opinion

We will need to see where Tottenham go from here, but given the lack of creative options in the market, complemented by the fact that the season is not too far away, Daniel Levy will need to make a decision.
