On July 17, The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Academy wrapped its round of 2025 Jr. Hawks Summer Camps, which gave over 750 kids in the Atlanta area a chance to sharpen their skills and meet some of their favorite players.

According to a press release, campers ages 8-15 worked with Hawks Youth Basketball Development Coaches on individual drills, group exercises, and competitive scrimmages over five weeks. The program also included yoga stations to allow the campers to slow down and focus on mindfulness for a few minutes.

Surprise visits from current Hawks players brought extra excitement to the camps. Players like 2024-25 Kia NBA Most Improved Player Dyson Daniels and small forward Jacob Toppin spent time running drills, answering campers’ questions, and sharing advice about the hard work it takes to succeed on and off the court.

“Our Jr. Hawks Summer Camps serve as a meaningful community initiative that allows us to connect with the next generation of Hawks fans through the game of basketball,” Senior Director of Hawks Basketball Academy Chris Jacobs said in the release. “While developing on-court skills remains a key focus, the camps are equally committed to nurturing teamwork and determination.”

From July 7-10, Jr. Hawks took a break from camp to celebrate women with the Lady Ballers Summer Hoop Fest. This week offered skill training and STEM activities for girls, including data-driven shooting stations and a panel with women who work for the Hawks, the G-League team the College Park Skyhawks, and Google.

Throughout the Summer, the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Academy also offered shooting clinics that took place in the evenings in different locations. The academy offered the clinics to allow more kids who didn’t sign up in time for the camps to join in on the fun.

According to the release, around three quarters of all Jr. Hawks participants attended on scholarships through the Score for Scholarship program, funded by personal injury attorney Ken Nugent. Every camper left with a Hawks swag bag, a jersey, a basketball, and a ticket to a 2025-26 Hawks home game.

“Many of these young athletes aspire to one day wear a Hawks jersey, and we’re proud to provide an experience that supports their growth both as players and individuals,” Jacobs said.
