Nottingham Forest in three-pronged transfer attack to bolster right-back options

Nottingham Forest look to be on the verge of adding defensive reinforcements to their squad after being named in pursuits of three players.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo hopes to add cover for starting full-backs Neco Williams and Ola Aina, both of whom signed contract extensions after impressing last season.

Brazilian defender Jai Cunha has already been welcomed to the City Ground during this transfer window, joining from Brazilian champions Botafogo, but it seems there are more to come.

As first reported last week, Hellas Verona's Jackson Tchatchoua remains high on Forest's list of available right-backs in the transfer market, but other European giants have been sounding out the Cameroonian international.

The 23-year-old has already been the subject of a €10 million (£8.6m) bid from Forest, according to Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb**.** Still, a second attempt to bring him to the Premier League could be in the works with AC Milan, who looked to challenge the attempt, now preparing to shop elsewhere for a full-back.

Tchatchoua features predominantly as a right-back and can also play on the left, either in defence or as a midfielder.

Elsewhere, TuttoMercatoWeb has also reported Forest's interest in securing the services of Seville right-back Juanlu Sanchez, but they face competition from other Premier League clubs.

The 21-year-old Spaniard managed an impressive five goals and five assists in 35 appearances last season, leading to Napoli, Wolves and Forest now hoping to sign him.

Sanchez, who has played at every youth level for his country, is understood to be valued at £18m by the Spanish club, and Wolves are reported to be in the box seat to sign him.

Staying in Spain, Forest are also thought to be keen on the former Manchester City academy product Pablo Maffeo, who currently represents Mallorca.

Twenty-eight-year-old Maffeo is said to be determined to join Forest, according to Spanish outlet AS, after an approach of €6.5m including bonuses was rejected. The La Liga club are seeking nearer €8m.

Reports suggest the player requested a meeting with Mallorca sporting director Pablo Ortells during their pre-season trip to Austria to plead for a move.

It is not yet known whether Forest will return with an improved offer for Maffeo, who has previously played regularly for Spain's youth sides while also being eligible for a 2023 Argentina call-up.

The defender didn't manage any Premier League minutes while with Man City, but did feature in two Champions League matches during his time there as a youngster.

Forest's proposal to the player is believed to have promised to treble his wages if he were to swap Mallorca for Nottingham.
