RB Leipzig have confirmed Benjamin Sesko trained individually on Tuesday as speculation continues to increase about a potential move to Manchester United.

Last month, it was reported that United were prioritising a move for the Slovenia international if they were to sign another striker this summer and informal contact was made with the Bundesliga club.

Now, according to The Athletic, United have submitted a £65.2million plus £8.7m add-ons bid to Leipzig for Sesko. The Reds think that the former Red Bull Salzburg man wants to move to Old Trafford this summer.

United's first official proposal, however, comes less than 24 hours after Leipzig received an improved offer from Newcastle United to sign Sesko this summer. The Magpies lodged a first bid - believed to be worth up to £69.8m - for Sesko on Saturday but Leipzig felt that was insufficient and turned it down.

Newcastle have since come in with a second proposal in the region of £78.4m including add-ons. It's unknown whether that is going to be enough for the German side to accept and allow him to leave.

With Sesko's future uncertain, Leipzig have since issued an update on the forward. In a squad update on Tuesday afternoon, Die Rotten Bullen confirmed that Sesko had trained on his own.

After announcing that Andrija Maksimovic and Yan Diomande were absent from training due to visa-related matters, Leipzig then added that Sesko worked individually during their latest session.

In a statement on the club's official website, RB Leipzig said: "Andrija Maksimovic and Yan Diomande were absent from training on Tuesday to deal with visa-related matters. Benjamin Šeško trained individually."

That could be the latest hint that Sesko is going to be on the move this summer, with Amorim's United attempting to beat Newcastle in the race for his signature.

Sesko was left out of the Leipzig squad for their pre-season fixture against Atalanta on Saturday. When asked for the reason behind his omission, head coach Marcel Schafer said it was "obvious" why.

Schafer said: "We won't go into detail on that, but when I say that several clubs have shown strong interest and have made approaches, it's obvious what has happened."

Sesko scored 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig last season. He had attracted interest from Arsenal earlier this summer, but the Gunners instead went for Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

He has since emerged as a top target for United as the Reds look to strengthen their forward line. There has been talk that Rasmus Hojlund could be used in a player-plus-cash swap deal in the opposite direction.
