Harry Maguire has now opened up on the clear-cut point that Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim made to his first-team players during the pre-season campaign.
The Red Devils are in the tail end of their first pre-season under Ruben Amorim, who arrived as Manchester United manager during the last Premier League campaign.
United players made a phased return to the Carrington training complex for pre-season duties in July after the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season in May.
The Red Devils embarked on their pre-season last month and United’s tour kicked off against Leeds United in Sweden, which ended in a lacklustre 0-0 draw in Solna.
Following United’s encounter with Leeds United, the Red Devils embarked on their pre-season tour of the United States and Amorim’s men played a further three ties.
United took part in the Premier League Summer Series under Amorim and the Red Devils won the friendly competition after picking up two wins and a draw in the US.

The Red Devils’ US leg of the pre-season tour is now over after Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Everton in Atlanta at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday.
Following United’s result vs Everton in Georgia, the Red Devils will return to the UK and Ruben Amorim’s side have one match remaining in their pre-season campaign.
Amorim has been putting his United stars, both the first-team players and youth academy prospects, through their paces in the pre-season training under him.
Speaking to MUTV, Harry Maguire has admitted that the 40-year-old Portuguese coach told the United players the critical importance of their training sessions.
“It’s something that [Ruben Amorim] reiterated, that we didn’t have enough time on the training pitch,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“This pre-season, it’s been tough on the legs, but the majority of it has been tactical.”

Maguire, who has featured in United’s pre-season campaign, welcomed the “tactical” element that Amorim’s training methods have provided for the Red Devils players.
The 32-year-old former United captain added that they have now become more familiar with Amorim’s tactical system and need to roll it out in matches.
“So, it’s nice to do the drills that are tactical rather than running around poles and running around the pitch,” Maguire continued.
“It’s been an enjoyable pre-season, but a pre-season that we’ve all learnt from.
“We know the system a lot better, and we’ve just got to take that into the games now.”
United’s final friendly match of the pre-season campaign will be played at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils hosting Serie A outfit Fiorentina on Saturday afternoon.
