'Increasingly likely' - Jackson set for Chelsea departure?

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is reportedly set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Senegalese striker is facing competition in West London ahead of the new season following ambitious activity in the market from the Blues.

Enzo Maresca's troops have recruited Liam Delap and Joao Pedro from Ipswich Town and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively for a combined £90m.

As a result, Jackson has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea and looks set for limited match minutes in the Premier League.

Since making the switch from Villarreal in La Liga to the Blues during the summer of 2023, the forward has neted 30 goals across 81 appearances.

Chelsea exit 'increasingly likely' for Jackson

According to transfer guru David Ornstein, Chelsea are looking set to wave goodbye to the services of Jackson this summer.

The report claims that an exit of Stamford Bridge for the striker has become 'increasingly likely' as the transfer window rolls on.

It is understood that Jackson has a number of potential suitors in the Premier League, including Manchester United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

However, it is believed that the Senegal international is viewed as a secondary trio for that aforementioned trio of clubs, meaning that a deal could be arranged later in the window.

As well as clubs in the Premier League, it is believed that clubs across Europe are eyeing up potential swoops for the Chelsea man.

Jackson facing competition

After the excellent performances of new signing Pedro at the Club World Cup, Jackson has arguably lost his starting spot at Chelsea.

At just 24 years of age, the striker has plenty of time to develop into a top-class forward, although alternative options may be preferred in the short term.

Chelsea next take to the field on Friday night, when Erik ten Hag's Bayer Leverkusen are the visitors to Stamford Bridge in London.
