Manchester United's pursuit of a new striker is no secret, though the question of where it leaves Rasmus Hojlund has remained unanswered.
That was until late last week, when the Manchester Evening News revealed United are prepared to make a loss on Hojlund to ensure that he is sold this summer.
Hojlund is valued at £38.4m under the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules, but United are prepared to sell the Dane for £30m.
While Hojlund, 22, insisted he wanted to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place in the team, Ruben Amorim did little to assure the striker he would be given the chance to do so when asked for an update on his future.
"I am really happy with Rasmus. I don't know what is going to happen until the end of the market," he said last week. "The important thing is that the strikers that are here are working really well, are improving, are helping the team and that is the most important thing.
"The important thing is that Rasmus is scoring goals. He's connecting really well with the team. He's improving. Again, I don't know what is going to happen until the market is closed."
Of course, Amorim's admission that he doesn't know what is going to happen between now and the end of the transfer window is entirely fair. After all, this is a club prepared to listen to offers for any of their players, which is the case at most clubs when such vast amounts of money are being thrown about.
That being said, it wouldn't be unfair to suggest Amorim's comments on Hojlund were hardly a vote of confidence.
It's clear United want to sign a striker to be thrown straight into Amorim's starting XI, with Hojlund's record of just 14 league goals in two years at the club far from good enough to warrant him being United's first-choice striker next season.
What wasn't clear was whether the club believed they had seen enough from him to suggest he was worth retaining.
A £30m bid and he'll be sold. That answers that question.
