A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week come in for a comparison with one of world football’s standout players this past season: Vitinha.
Portuguese international Vitinha of course played nothing short of a pivotal role in Paris Saint-Germain’s historic campaign in 2024/25.
En route to the capital outfit securing a first-ever Champions League title, the 25-year-old was at the heart of almost everything positive produced by Luis Enrique’s side.
Many, in turn, have gone as far as to label Vitinha the game’s very best midfielder at present.
Safe to say, then, that those of a Barcelona persuasion will no doubt be excited by comparisons being drawn between the Portuguese, and a member of their own squad.
Blaugrana youngster Gavi is fresh off a stellar showing during the club’s pre-season tour of Asia, capped off by a brace against FC Daegu on Monday.
Speaking during an appearance on El Larguero on the back of the clash, journalist Santi Giménez, in turn, revealed his take that:
“Gavi will be Barca’s Vitinha this season. Hansi Flick has found his position.”
