Report: Nottingham Forest make club captain their new 'top' transfer target

Nottingham Forest appear to be on the hunt for new midfield players this summer.

The squad is well stocked in that area of the pitch, despite Forest being locked in talks to sign Douglas Luiz.

Nicolas Dominguez, Ibrahim Sangare, Elliot Anderson and Ryan Yates are all in the midfield engine room vying for a shirt.

Forest landed Dan Ndoye last week and now it looks as though the emphasis will be placed on the engine room instead.

Nottingham Forest want Mads Bidstrup

According to Florian Plettenberg, Forest have now got the RB Salzburg captain on their list of targets for the summer transfer window.

Bidstrup spent some time with Brentford previously but was sold by Thomas Frank after making just 14 appearances for the Premier League outfit.

The central midfielder has gained experience playing in the Champions League at Salzburg, making 11 appearances in that competition and scoring a single goal.

It’s not clear how much it would cost to prise Bidstrup away from Salzburg this summer, although he is under contract until 2028.

Bidstrup fits the profile of player Forest would try to sign

George Syrianos remains active behind the scenes at the City Ground and this proves it.

The recruitment guru is clearly still getting involved and that can only bode well with just a few weeks of the transfer window left.

It will be interesting to see just how much Forest would have to pay to get Bidstrup, but to land a player with significant potential can only be a good thing.

Luiz looks to be the midfield priority but if Bidstrup lands as well, it would certainly be viewed as a positive when it comes to the strength in depth in the Forest squad.
