Liverpool have had two offers turned down for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, according to reports - with the Anfield club looking to strengthen their backline in what continues to be a superb window for Arne Slot.
The Reds have already signed Bayer Leverkusen duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong in a double deal that saw them part with £145million, whilst the arrivals of Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez and Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Hugo Ekitike cost the club an initial £115million - with add-ons from all four deals taking their spending to almost £300million.
That would be enough for some clubs to stop their summer spending immediately, but with the Merseyside outfit having only spent £45million last summer on Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa, alongside winning the Premier League title, there is more money to spend.
And with that in mind, the report by Footmercato journalist Santi Aouna on X (formerly Twitter) states that Palace have now refused two 'official' bids from Liverpool for 'superstar' Guehi, with interest in the England defender ramping up as we head into the final few weeks of the transfer window, alongside a potential move for Newcastle United hero Alexander Isak.
Guehi won't go into conflict with Palace about not being able to join the Premier League champions, despite wanting to join according to GIVEMESPORT sources - with the centre-back remaining 'respectful' of the Eagles, and so there won't be a push to leave from his side.
With that in mind, the Reds are now exploring other defensive targets as they look to bolster their backline, mindful that French star Ibrahima Konate could leave the club next summer.
Guehi burst into international recognition last summer after his stellar performances for the Three Lions at EURO 2024, with his outings seeing Gareth Southgate's outfit reach the final, where they lost to Spain in the final moments of the game - and some stellar Premier League appearances to go with that, alongside an FA Cup win, has seen Slot make a move for his signature to shore up his defensive contingency.
